LP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MICHAEL BADNARIK VISITS FLAGSTAFF

|
Libertarian Party's presidential candidate Michael Badnarik will visit Flagstaff Saturday September 4. Badnarik will spend time at the Coconino County Fair from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM and be the guest of honor and speaker at a fundraising dinner held by the Coconino County Libertarian Party at 7:00 PM at the Elks Lodge.
Badnarik, a resident of Austin, Texas is a retired software engineer and a Constitutional scholar, and has published a number of books and articles on constitutional issues. His latest book "It's Good to Be King," talks about the publics' misunderstanding of the Constitution and its role in our lives.
Dinner is $15 and will run from 7:00 PM until 9:00PM; the Elks Lodge is at 2101 No. San Francisco St. You don't have to be a Libertarian to meet one of the best candidates the LP has had. Badnarik has successfully unified the party and the other candidates for the nomination into the best political campaign the party has waged.

LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE COMING TO TOWN
A presidential candidate will roll into town for Labor Day weekend, and although he probably won't draw 10,000 people like Sen. John Kerry, he'll draw the party faithful.
Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik will arrive Saturday in Flagstaff, where he'll be at the Coconino County Fair from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. At 7, he'll join fellow Libertarians for a dinner at the Elks Lodge.
Badnarik, 50, traveled more than 25,000 miles across the U.S. in the 15 months leading up to the Libertarian Party National Convention in Atlanta, where he was nominated on May 30.
Badnarik carries much of the Libertarian party platform, which includes support of legalized marijuana for medicinal use and an overall push for less government.
Badnarik's top issue, however, is his support of the Second Amendment. "Don't even think about taking my guns! My rights are not negotiable, and I am totally unwilling to compromise when it comes to the Second Amendment," he stated on his Web site.
Libertarians Face Only Democrats in Supervisor Races
All five of the races for County Supervisor will be two way races between Democrats and Libertarians. There are no Republican candidates running in any of the five districts. Determined to make good use of last year's success at achieving ballot status in the county, the Coconino LP was able to recruit five candidates for the county supervisors races. It was only after the filing deadline had passed that we learned that the Republicans had not filed candidates for any county offices, and that all five supervisory districts would have only Libertarians and Democrats. An unexpected bonus, and one which we will be happy to accept.
In fact if not for Libertarians, three county supervisor incumbents would be running unopposed. As it stands District 1 will have a Democratic primary since Paul Babbitt is running for Congress, and the winner will face longtime activist Dr. John Richard "Dick" Ambler. District 5 has a primary election which will likely be won by incumbent Louis Yellowman, who will face Page education activist Susan Cvach. District 2 will pit social conservative Vicki Ratzlaff against Liz Archuleta, District 3 will see county chair George Squyres running against Matt Ryan and county treasurer Jay Lincoln will face Deb Hill in District 4.
The Coconino County Republican Committee, at their last regular meeting, has agreed to support the Libertarian candidates since they are unable to field candidates of their own. While we differ with Republicans as much as we differ with Democrats, we have agreed to their support as common allies in unseating the Democratic machine that controls the county. All things point to the ascension of the Libertarians as the party of individual rights and free markets in Coconino County. It's about time!
